Molino de Guevara · Est. 1750

A water mill, resting quietly
above the Almanzora valley.

Three kilometres from the sea. A world away from the calendar of tourism.

An eighteenth-century hydraulic mill, carefully restored, offered as a long term rental to those who come to Andalucía not to pass through it, but to live inside it for a while — golfers, retirees, and anyone drawn to a slower stretch of coast near Cabo de Gata.

The Story

Built in 1750 to turn grain into flour. Rehabilitated in 2000 to hold a quieter kind of life.

The Molino de Guevara stands where it always has, in the fertile valley of the Río Almanzora, drawing its name from the water that once turned its stone. Its irrigation channel, its stone pit and its vaulted cárcavo — the tunnel where the water-wheel turned — remain intact beneath the house, and can be visited on request. Above them, the old grinding floor and grain store have become a home: white-limed walls, timber-and-cane ceilings, and a 600 sqm garden set against the mill's original stone buttresses.

This is rural Almería as it was built to be lived in — not a monument kept behind rope, but a house that has simply kept its character while taking on a new use.

Made for a longer stay

Not a holiday rental. A place to settle in.

Molino de Guevara suits those who want weeks or months, not a long weekend: golfers based near the coast for a season, retirees seeking mild winters, and anyone who values quiet, space and a genuine sense of place over a full events calendar. The house sits in open countryside, with the beach a short drive away and the rhythms of rural Almería — markets, orchards, the call of the valley — close at hand.
